Andy Gent

Piano Instructor

Andy started taking piano lessons at the age of 6 and has continued playing music ever since. During high school he ventured into the world of jazz and began playing in jam bands. Andy went to college in Wisconsin and played shows all over the state in jam/funk bands before moving to Durango. He enjoys funk, jazz and neo-soul with a teaching emphasis on music theory, writing and improvisation. Major influences include 60s and 70s rock, as well as jazz artists such as Bill Evans, Thelonious Monk, Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea. Jam, Funk, Neo-Soul, Pop I recently started a band called Pickle Train. We don't have any recordings out right now but we'll hopefully have something out in the next few months. It might not even be worth putting it on the webpage yet. My old band Avant Horizon has an album out from 2021 but we also broke up about a year ago so that might not be worth putting on there either.
